Warning:
Although most Colombian cities have good water services, we strongly suggest
not to drink tap water but bottled instead.
Medical emergencies:
Colombia has a very efficient health care network. In the main cities, the
emergency medical services have good quality standards, with qualified staff in
every medical field 24 hours a day. It is recommended to have an international
health insurance: ask in your home country. In Colombia, good quality dental
treatments are rather inexpensive.
Medicines:
Most medicines can be bought without restrictions at pharmacies, except those
that require a medical prescription. Always check on package for the expiration
date and price. In capital cities there are night shift pharmacies which are also
open on week-ends and holidays. If you travel to jungle areas, bring a first-aid
kit.
